We had seen a lot of technology revolution in the telecommunications industry in couple of decades. 5th Generation Mobile Network or simply 5G is the forthcoming revolution of mobile technology, evolving from 1G to 2G, 3G, 4G and now 5G. It’s offering faster speeds and more reliable connections than the previous generations of mobile communications systems.

What is 5G Technology?

The 5G technology should offer a wider than the previous frequency bands along with the wider spectral bandwidth per frequency channel.  The service area covered by providers is divided into small geographical areas called cells.

5G will use millimeter waves which are shorter range than micro waves. Also small Millimeter wave antennas are used in public laces i.e. traffic lights and more. Each cell will have multiple antennas communicating with the wireless device, received by multiple antennas in the device, data will be transmitted simultaneously, in parallel.

The new 5G wireless mobile phone also have 4G LTE capability. It can support up to a million devices per square kilometer, while 4G supports only up to 100,000 devices per square kilometer. The spectrum covers the 600 and 700 MHz bands.

What Are All The Benefits of 5G?

  • Faster Speed:  5th generation could offer speeds of up to 100 times faster than 4G. With this we could see speeds of 10 gigabits per second or more.
  • Reliable: Extra bandwidth will makLarger data volume per unit area so high capacity to allow more devices connectivity. At least 1 million connected devices per square kilometer so it enable IoT support.
  • Smart Cars: 5G can make cars even smarter by connecting internal car parts wirelessly.
  • ubiquitous Connectivity: Wireless system available everywhere virtually including on the road. Already Samsung proved a stable data transmission of 1.2 Gbps data to a vehicle travelling more than 97 Kmph.
  • Lower battery consumption: The 5G specs are energy efficient when under load, also drop into a low energy mode quickly when not in use.
  • Low cost of infrastructural development.

So finally, with 5G is able to support the speed up to 10 Gbps, also  technology will offer contiguous and consistent coverage. Also it make the path for feature technology of connected cars, self-driving cars and virtual reality.
